Environmental audits

The implementation of new legislation making corporate executives responsible for environmental violations, pressure from insurers, corporations and citizens are among the factors, which have given rise to environmental audits.

Definition

As defined by the Association québécoise des vérificateurs environnementaux (AQVE - the Quebec association of environmental auditors) and ISO 14001, an environmental audit is a systematic process, which makes it possible to obtain and objectively evaluate proof supporting a verifiable statement relating to an environmental issue, in order to suppress or compensate for inconveniences that could be created.
